    Description

    USS KIDD DD-661 United States Navy Ship cover for this WW II, Korean War era ship.
    Cover postmarked first day from Findlay, Ohio on Jan 9, 2022. Color ship's photo
    printed on cachet # 2246 by Alvin Eckert, USCS #9964. Cover franked with 57 cent flag stamp (FDOI) and a 3 cent USN stamp from 1946.
    The cover was prepared on a ungummed, archive quality envelope.
    The ship was named for Admiral Issac Kidd, who was killed in 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Fletcher Class destroyer was commissioned on April 23, 1943. She earned eight battle stars in WW II and four battle stars in Korean War service. The fighting vessel was retired by the USN in 1964 and is now open to the public at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
